Ronald Koeman has revealed that he felt he was forced into taking off Matthijs De Ligt during the Netherlands' draw with Germany in order to protect the Man United star. De Ligt, 25, moved to Old Trafford from Bayern Munich in the summer for a £38.5million fee. The centre back has featured in all of United's Premier League games so far this season, although Erik ten Hag's side have made a difficult start by losing two of their opening three matches.

Kylian Mbappe agreed to join Liverpool before opting to instead stay at Paris Saint-Germain two years ago, according to a report. The forward had a turbulent time in the French capital during his seven years at the club, eventually leaving for free in the summer and making the move to Real Madrid in Spain. It had looked as though he would leave PSG on a number of occasions prior to that, however, none moreso than when he eventually signed a two-year contract extension in the summer of 2022.

Former Manchester United midfielder Anderson has been ordered to prison time over his reported failure to pay child maintenance. The 36-year-old has been told he will have to serve time in a jail in the southern Brazilian city of Porto Alegre unless he hands over the £45,000 he owes. The decision was made last week by a family court judge in the retired footballer's home city, but only became public overnight.
