England captain Jos Buttler is ruled out of T20 series against Australia after injury setback - and could also miss ODI matches - with Phil Salt to captain the side in his absence
Jos Buttler will miss next week's Twenty20 series against Australia after aggravating a calf injury. Buttler was meant to report for duty on Sunday, his 34th birthday, but the damage to his right calf has now ruled that out and placed his participation in the five-match one-day series in doubt too. It means England could face Australia over eight matches with two new captains at the helm. Phil Salt has been confirmed as T20 captain while Harry Brook would likely lead the 50-over side should Buttler fail to recover in time.

When Craig Bellamy was playing for Cardiff City towards the end of his career, the full-backs marking him would often hear a peculiar noise. If Bellamy was on the ball, supporters closest to the pitch would instinctively stand up, anticipating a piece of magic. There followed the sound of dozens of plastic chairs flipping backwards, like the tumbling of dominoes. 'When the ball went towards him you'd just hear the seats going back,' recalls James O'Connor, who played right-back for Doncaster when Bellamy made his Cardiff debut in August 2010, and made more than 400 league appearances for six clubs.

Ugandan Olympic marathon runner Rebecca Cheptegei has died in hospital from her injuries after being the victim of a petrol attack at her home. Cheptegei was being treated in hospital for 80 per cent burns allegedly being set on fire by her boyfriend on Sunday. She had been admitted to the intensive care unit at the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital in Eldoret, Kenya. The hospital's acting director Dr Owen Menach confirmed Cheptegei had died on Wednesday night.
