A 12-year-old boy died unexpectedly after his soccer practice in San Bernardino, Calif., on Feb. 26.
Adriel Enriquez, who was going to celebrate his 13th birthday next month, went into cardiac arrest and collapsed during practice. The pre-teen later died, according to theGoFundMecreated by his uncle Joshua Gutierrez.
The page was created to help his parents, Ricky and Brenda, with the unexpected funeral expenses. Enriquez was one of three boys, with two younger brothers.
"There are no words that make sense when a child is taken too soon," Gutierrez wrote, describing his nephew as someone who "brought light, energy, and joy everywhere he went."
"What started as a normal afternoon doing what he loved turned into every parent's worst nightmare," the GoFundMe's description read.

"Adriel loved soccer. It wasn't just something he played, it was something he truly loved. He showed up with heart, with passion, and with a smile," the post read.
Enriquez's soccer club, Platinum IE, posted anInstagramtribute to the late player and announced that a vigil in his honor will be held on Thursday, March 5. The club acknowledged his passion for the sport in the announcement, saying, "We lost one of our Platinum IE family members suddenly and unexpectedly after practice doing what he loved most: being on the field with his team."
Platinum IE shared that the organization is "heartbroken," and asked for support "to honor and celebrate his beautiful life."
"He was the sweetest, most gentle and shy soul, with a quiet strength that touched everyone around him," the club said on Instagram. "Forever our #23."
