The proprietor of an elephant has been trampled to dying after the animal charged into a house.

The elephant attacked the village of Kattikkulam, Kerala, in India, on Saturday, and CCTV exhibits terrified villagers fleeing for their lives and in search of refuge in a gated residence.

But the elephant broke via and trampled proprietor Ajeesh, 46, to dying after he stumbled while making an attempt to flee the four-tonne animal.

He was carried away from the scene by residents and was rushed to hospital but later died from his accidents.

The elephant had been transferred from Karnataka to the Bengur Forest Vary earlier than the attack.

The federal government has urged individuals not to attack elephants in retaliation and stated they might meet to deal with the difficulty.

Ajeesh was the lone breadwinner for his family and the government have agreed to offer a job for his wife and give them 1,000,000 INR (£9,529.85) compensation.

Forests and Wildlife Minister AK Saseendran stated: 'The security of each the residents and the wildlife have to be prioritised, and a complete plan of action must be devised to stop such incidents from occurring in the future.'

Ajeesh is the fifth individual injured in human-animal-related conflicts in five weeks in Kerala.

Habitat loss is on the rise for elephants in India because of issues like deforestation, farming, roads and mining.

Elephants raid crops for meals and consequently come into direct conflict with humans who're making an attempt to protect the fields and their houses.

The government has responded by making an attempt measures like compensation schemes for farmers, electric and solar fence installations, and various water sources away from villages.
