A 13-year-old boy died after being deliberately pushed right into a river in south Wales as part of a 'prank', a coroner has discovered.
Christopher Kapessa, described as 'loving, caring, passionate and really protective' by his family, drowned after entering the River Cynon in Fernhill.
4 witnesses advised an inquest in Pontypridd that another boy, then aged 14, had pushed him from a ledge into the water, after saying phrases to the effect of 'shall I push him in'.
Since then, the sufferer's household has campaigned for the boy who allegedly pushed him to be charged after the Crown Prosecution Service ruled that it was not in the public curiosity to do so.
The boy, now aged 19, can't be named for legal causes.
He advised the inquest that he by chance fell into Christopher and didn't recommend doing so.
However delivering his conclusions within the case, assistant coroner David Regan stated: 'In my judgment, Christopher was intentionally pushed into the back from behind by [the boy] utilizing his arms.
'[The boy's] actions disadvantaged Christopher of the chance to determine whether or not to enter the water.
'I've no hesitation find that Christopher didn't consent to being pushed into the river.'
Christopher, who was not a assured swimmer based on his mother, started to panic and shouted for help.
Other youngsters, together with the boy who pushed him into the river, jumped in and tried to rescue him however he disappeared under the surface at about 5.30pm.
The coroner stated: 'They acted very courageously in doing so.
(The boy) pushed Christopher into the water in a misplaced sense of enjoyable, specifically as a prank.'
