Calocane, 32, was handed a hospital order for manslaughter by diminished duty after Nottingham Crown Court heard he had been diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia.

Chatting with The Times, Dr Sinead O'Malley-Kumar, 54, and Emma Webber, 51, stated they felt "foolish" for considering they might see justice properly served and advised any evidence given to the authorities that "did not match their narrative" was dismissed.

Ms Webber stated: "I feel prefer it's a statistic. A less expensive, simpler win.

"I know it's contentious to say it. Nevertheless, I've misplaced my valuable son so I really feel entitled to have that opinion."

Ms O'Malley-Kumar stated: "Grace is gone. Barney is gone. We've received nothing else to struggle for.

"And we're going to get justice for our youngsters."
