However, Game 7 was an intense fight between two elite defensive squads, and the Golden State Valkyries survived. After Reese's loss in the 2026 WNBA Finals, her mother announced her return to social media with a message for the opponents.
Reese scored eight points and grabbed 12 rebounds in the final game, but shot only 3-for-7 and turned the ball over four times. Her finals run saw inconsistent play after a string of three good games. Reese's mom, Angel Webb Reese, might have wished to return to X with her daughter's win, but the tables turned.
"I'm back on this app after 6 months & Congratulations to the @valkyries on winning the 26′ 🏆!"
Reese would have been up for the Finals MVP award if she had won one more game for the Dream, but in the end, Gabby Williams had the honor. The Valkyries took Game 7 68-63 as the French forward scored 30 points and blocked four shots. The Dream will go back to the drawing board and see how they can improve next season.
Angel Reese wasn't dejected when the Dream couldn't go and win the title after taking the series to Game 7:
"I am beyond proud and have absolutely nothing to hang my head about. Every loss is a lesson, and sometimes it's not NO, just NOT YET. Delayed, not denied. Trust me. I'm hungry for more."
The Dream had DeWanna Bonner's services, but that couldn't help the team get past the Valkyries' defensive fortress. Reese struggled in the paint against the towering Valks' defense, and it might be time for her to unlock the next level of her offense.
Although she improved her jumper through the postseason, she still needs to work on turnaround shots, and her efficiency from deep has been underwhelming by her standards.
