Running back Saquon Barkley was on the field with his Philadelphia Eagles teammates on Friday, an encouraging sign after he was absent on Thursday. Wideout DeVonta Smith, however, was not present for another day and has been ruled out.
The 2-5 Eagles visit the 1-4-1 Washington Commanders in an NFC East clash and could use two of their biggest offensive weapons considering how ravaged the roster has been this season by injury. Barkley missed two weeks due to a hamstring injury before returning for Week 7. The running back ran for 62 yards and a touchdown during the loss to the Dallas Cowboys. A hamstring will now sideline Smith for a fourth game this season.
Barkley was limited on Friday, but does not have an injury designation.
"Feel decent. Had a good week of work," Barkley said. "Rehabbing and stuff, so I feel good to go back out there and practice."
When asked if he'll play Sunday Barkley said, "I would hope so. I feel like I'll be able to."
The Baltimore Ravens will get Lamar Jackson back for Sunday's matchup against the Buffalo Bills. The quarterback practiced for a third straight day on Friday and did not carry an injury designation on the team's injury report.
"We do think we will have Lamar this game," head coach Jesse Minter said.
Jackson has been out since Week 4 after getting injured against the Tennessee Titans. He returned to practice last week in a limited capacity before being ruled out for Week 7. This week, the quarterback was a full participant all three days and is ready to go.
"I'm always excited when I'm able to be back on the field with my guys," Jackson said. "Put us in the win column, help us get another W. That's what I'm ready to do."
A.J. Brown is questionable this week after missing practice on Thursday and Friday. Head coach Mike Vrabel said the wide receiver was unable to finish practice on Wednesday as he deal with ankle and knee issues. Brown said this week that despite playing in Week 7 he's still not at 100% and that he's " pushing through " it right now.
The Seattle Seahawks' backfield could get a boost very soon as Zach Charbonnet (ACL) is close to a return and Jadarian Price (chest) had his 21-day practice window open up this week. Charbonnet was a full participant this week in practice, while Price remains limited.
Braelon Allen (ankle) was upgraded to a full participant in Thursday's practice. Breece Hall (quad), who has been out since Week 3, was limited again on Friday and is questionable to play. Allen has excelled in the No. 1 role, averaging 105.3 yards from scrimmage in Hall's absence.
Rashee Rice (hamstring/knee), who missed the Kansas City Chiefs' past two games, has no injury designation and will return this week against the Denver Broncos.
After missing last week's win over the Carolina Panthers, Emeka Egbuka (concussion/foot) will remain out against the Atlanta Falcons. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver shed his non-contact jersey at Thursday's practice and was upgraded to a limited participant. He has cleared concussion protocol, but a foot injury will keep him sidelined.
Here's the rest of the Week 8 injury report:

The Washington Commanders reportedly lost a key defensive piece to a concerning injury during Friday's practice, two days before a Sunday clash with the Philadelphia Eagles.
Defensive tackle Daron Payne suffered a significant foot setback that will likely land him on injured reserve, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo .
Payne is a one-time Pro Bowler and has been with Washington since 2018, when the organization drafted him 13th overall out of Alabama.
Tate did not practice at all this week and will miss Sunday's game against the Bengals. The Titans' leading receiver is dealing with a shoulder injury.
Love has not played since Week 5 as he recovered from an ankle injury. The rookie running back was limited on Thursday, but showed enough on Friday that head coach Mike LaFleur is ready to welcome him back.
The Ravens are planning to have Lamar Jackson back this week after the quarterback missed the past three games with a high ankle sprain.
"We do think we'll have Lamar this week," said head coach Jesse Minter on Friday . "I'm excited about that. He's had a really good week of practice."
The Ravens are currently 4-3 and are set to face the 5-1 Buffalo Bills on Sunday.
Downs is reportedly ready to leave after Quenton Nelson and DeForest Buckner were dealt earlier this week. Reports emerged Wednesday suggesting Downs has informed the team he would like to be traded.
Downs was asked about those rumors, though he didn't directly address them. He didn't deny them, either.
Despite clearing concussion protocol, Egbuka is still dealing with a nagging foot injury that keep him out against the Falcons this week.
Wide receiver DeVonta Smith remains out of practice with a hamstring injury.
How important are Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams' new cleats? Important enough that the star is willing to pay roughly $12,000 every game to keep wearing them.
Williams, who was fined $11,941 for displaying an "unauthorized logo" on his cleats during the team's Week 6 win over the Atlanta Falcons, said Wednesday he intends to keep wearing the cleats the rest of the season.
Those cleats, which are made by a company called Caddix, were designed with the intention of reducing ACL and ankle injuries thanks to the way their studs rotate and release on a surface.
Problem is, Caddix does not have a deal with the NFL. Because of that, the company's logo cannot be displayed by players during games.
Williams, who does not have an endorsement deal with Caddix, spoke highly of the cleats Wednesday, and said he intended to continue wearing them because he believes in the science behind the cleats.
Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy has shared a positive update on his wife Mia, three months after she was shot in their family home .
When speaking to reporters on Thursday, Bieniemy said that Mia was doing well enough to go on a trip with friends this past weekend.
"She's doing great. She actually went on a trip this weekend," Bieniemy said. "She was a rockstar, obviously.
"Her rehab has been going great. She actually had an opportunity to come out here and hang out and I'm sure I got on her nerves," he joked.
Mia, 57, was shot in the arm and chest at their family home in Loudoun County, Virginia, on July 26. She was hospitalized with multiple gunshot wounds.
Elijah Bieniemy, the 27-year-old son of Eric and Mia, was arrested and charged with the shooting the following day.
Carolina Panthers defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero and defensive passing game coordinator Jonathan Cooley have been fired, the team announced on Thursday .
The moves come a day after the Panthers fell to 3-4 after a 27-19 loss to the Green Bay Packers.
Evero had been in charge of the Carolina defense since being hired in Feb. 2023 to work under then-head coach Frank Reich. After remaining in the role when Dave Canales replaced Reich, Evero signed a contract extension through the 2027 season this past January .
Defensive line coach Todd Wash will take over as interim defensive coordinator.
Xavier McKinney said he was fined "a lot" of money by the NFL for ripping officials during his postgame comments following last Sunday's loss to the Detroit Lions .
The Green Bay Packers safety, speaking after Thursday's 27-19 win over the Carolina Panthers , would not divulge the exact amount, but the minimum fine for criticizing officiating is $25,000, as Puka Nacua found out last season . McKinney told reporters the total was at least that amount.
During the Lions game, Packers head coach Matt LaFleur got into numerous animated discussions with officials and said afterward there were "some tough calls." Those calls were a pair of roughing the passer penalties and an unnecessary roughness call.
A trip to the hospital for coughing up blood did not end Christian Watson's night on the football field.
The Green Bay Packers wide receiver returned to Lambeau Field during Thursday's game against the Carolina Panthers after leaving the first half in an ambulance with a chest injury.
Watson left the hospital around halftime and returned to the game with 4:01 remaining in the third quarter with Green Bay holding a 27-13 lead. He continued to play through the conclusion of the Packers' 27-19 win .
After the game, Watson told Amazon's Kaylee Hartung that he didn't want to go to the hospital but that team medical staff sent him due to a "couple of signs" indicating that he needed to go. One of those signs was Watson spitting up blood.

The Bears are giving up two first-rounders, a rich asking price , but also more justifiable considering the player they acquired and the position that he plays. The draft picks also reset right as Caleb Williams' potential new deal (it's really as likely as can be at this point) should kick in, when a need for cheaper talent becomes more valued as his salary cap hit multiplies several times over.
But enough about future problems and conundrums. Let's get to the fireworks factory! What does Jeffery Simmons bring to Chicago? To make this as Chicago-y as possible: a monster is back in the Midway.
What would executives and talent evaluators from other teams pay for Simmons?
One NFC executive valued Simmons as worth a first- and a second-round pick. An AFC executive said Simmons is indeed "very, very good" and thus would warrant "maybe a one and change." An executive from another NFC team noted value differs based on a team's current needs at the position, but for the Bears, they'd consider a 2027 first and 2028 third worth acquiring him. (Teams differ on whether they view the value of picks consistent across years or whether they discount the value of a later-year pick due to the limited ability to gain value from the asset in the interim.)
So will trading two firsts and change prove worthwhile for the Bears? A look at recent blockbuster defensive line trades call that into question.
A day after Brown said he wasn't feeling 100% as he battles through recovery from a Week 1 high ankle sprain, the Patriots wideout was not at practice Thursday,
"Yeah, sometimes, you know, I see it, and sometimes, I'm pushing through," Brown said Wednesday. "But none of that stuff even matters. I'm out here, so I'm going."
Despite that, the Patriots haven't limited Brown's playing time since he's been back. The wideout played 76 percent of the team's offensive snaps in Week 6 and 91 percent of the team's offensive snaps in Week 7.
Brown was listed on the Patriots' injury report on Wednesday with a knee injury in addition to his ankle ailment.
Price has missed the past four games after being placed on injured reserve with a chest injury. The team opened his 21-day window to return on Thursday meaning they have three weeks to activate him to the 53-man roster or shut him down for the season.
Price's return comes on the heels of Zach Charbonnet (ACL) returning to practice last week as he gets closer to a return, which could potentially come this Monday night against the Bears.
The Philadelphia Eagles' injury report remains long in Week 8. Running back Saquon Barkley, who is dealing with hamstring and back injuries, didn't practice Thursday. And neither did wideouts DeVonta Smith (hamstring) and Dontayvion Wicks (ankle).
Following a "Monday Night Football" loss to the Dallas Cowboys, Barkley said his "hamstring came out great" and that he didn't believe his back issue would keep him out. Barkley played through pain versus the Cowboys and touched the ball on each of his nine snaps, finishing with 71 scrimmage yards and a touchdown.
Smith and Wicks, however, didn't play in that game. Their absences were felt, as Philadelphia's injury-ravaged offense couldn't keep pace with the Cowboys' potent attack.
The Eagles, losers of five straight, are gearing up for a Sunday clash with the Washington Commanders.
