"The Hills" star Spencer Pratt announced hisbid for Los Angeles mayoron Wednesday, Jan. 7, reportedly during a demonstration as part of the one-year anniversary of the Palisades Fire.
The Los Angeles TimesandFox 11 Los Angelesare reporting that Pratt announced his mayoral bid during the "They Let us Burn" demonstration held in the Pacific Palisades. He'd beenlisted as a speaker.
A post on Instagram from Pratt's account said, "Yes, it's official. Papers are filed, and the campaign is open." He also included a website, where he calls himself Mayor Karen Bass's "worst nightmare."
Pratt is best known for appearing on the reality television series "The Hills," which began in 2006 on MTV. The show was created by Adam DiVello, who might also be recognized for his more recent hit on Netflix, "Selling Sunset," which explores the drama of selling luxury real estate in Los Angeles.
Pratt and his wife and fellow "The Hills" alum Heidi Montag shared a home in the Pacific Palisades beforethey lost it to the Palisades Firelast January.
In asocial media post in August, Pratt said, "If you let my town burn down, I don't care what 'team' you're on."
The post further read, "People always want to try and make things political or make it about one side vs. another. I don't care about any of that, I don't care what party the officials in charge are, this is about holding people and institutions accountable, and that should be something we all support."
Pratt has criticized both Bass and Gov. Gavin Newsom following the Palisades Fire.
