As a result of theChargers'16-13road victory over the Chiefs, Los Angeles is slotted in as the AFC's fifth seed.
The Chiefs had qualified for the playoffs every year since the 2015 season, reaching the Super Bowl in each of the past three seasons and winning two.
The Chargers (10-4) will finish out the season on Jan. 4 with a road game against theDenver Broncos(12-2), which might decide the AFC West division and possibly the conference's top seed.
