It is staggeringly stupid that the head coach is in a position where he has to defend himself against comments made by the club's new sporting director. The new sporting director who, in the nine days since a controversial interview in which he questioned the transfer dealings of Howe and others, has not spoken over the phone or in person with the manager to offer context and reassurance regarding his words.
