A STUDENT who splashed out on personalised quantity plates has been fined and had his automotive impounded despite not doing something mistaken.
The person spent £480 on a pair of customized plates for his Seat Ibiza Cupra after graduating from college.
Before getting behind the wheel, the graduate checked with the DVLA that the plates have been registered and together with his insurer – who each assured him he was able to drive.
He went for a spin in his automotive together with his new registration plate but was out of the blue pulled over by four police automobiles.
Regardless of having all the right documents, particulars of his new registration had not been updated on the police database which meant officers thought they have been pretend and he was driving uninsured.
He was then slapped with six points on his licence and hit with a £300 superb for having no insurance, as well as having his automotive impounded.
The driving force stated: "At first I wasn't apprehensive, as I knew I had every part insured and all the things was respectable.
"Apparently my plate doesn't exist.
"I used to be utterly devastated, it was a total nightmare.
"I've been left with points on my licence over an admin error."
He was later advised his motor can be scrapped if the automotive was stored at an area police station for seven days.
After spending the subsequent day proclaiming his innocence, he was given the keys back to his motor and compelled to pay a £175 invoice.
In accordance with his insurer, it will probably take up to seven days for the police database to update its data.
A spokeswoman for the corporate stated their shopper "contacted us on October 13 to amend the registration for his insured car.
"We immediately up to date [his] data and despatched the client an e-mail confirming the change, in addition to updating his on-line portal with the required Certificates of Insurance.

A spokesman for the West Midlands Police stated: "The automotive was seized for having no insurance after a number plate on the car was not registered on police methods on the time the driving force was stopped.
"This was accomplished lawfully and in accordance with S165 (a) Street Visitors Act 1988."
