A physician has appeared in courtroom accused of tried murder after a suspected poison attack.

The balding, bespectacled GP spoke only to verify his identify, age, and tackle when he appeared before JPs in Newcastle yesterday.
He was not requested to enter a plea.
The world round his house in Ingleby Barwick, Teesside, was cordoned off on Tuesday night as police, paramedics and firefighters launched an enormous operation.
Emergency crews in protective suits have been seen getting into the property and police later stated an "unknown substance" had been discovered.
A Northumbria Police spokesperson added: "Following a report of suspected poisoning which was acquired on Wednesday, January 24, Thomas Kwan, 52, has been charged with tried homicide."
The married dad-of-one was remanded in custody and will subsequent appear at Newcastle crown court on March 6.
He was born in Hong Kong and came to the UK 39 years ago as a scholar.
